Chasing the Light

Hi! Welcome to my blog, or as I'm deciding to lovingly nickname it, The Accountability Monster 2019. I don't know about anyone else, but 2018 really kicked my butt. I came out of it feeling exhausted, run down, and, well, not like myself at all. I decided to change that. 2019 had to be about exploring me. I want to deepen my craft and refresh my creativity.
Google had my back because what showed up in my newsfeed but an article about a weekly photo challenge? What a perfect way to get back in the swing of things than with weekly technical and creative assignments. I did love school after all.
Starting strong out the gate for the mini first week of the new year, the assignment was faceless self portraits. Crap. Like many I find it hard to take photos of myself, but this was asking us to tell a story about ourselves in one image. Double crap. I had an assignment like this in college for a mass communications class and I thought, 'I'm a creative person. I can do this.' I did okay. I ended up overthinking and over complicating it.
After a few days of anxiously thinking about how I would compose the perfect image that showed every inch of what made me, me, I finally went with my new theme for this year: Finding my Sparkle. I threw on my favorite shoes, found a great sunbeam and went simple. Who am I? Someone searching for my sparkle. Someone trying to grow creatively. Someone trying to be a mom, a photographer, a real estate agent, and also herself. Someone chasing the light.

For now this blog will document this challenge on a weekly basis. I'll do the assignment, explain my thoughts behind it and share any relevant images(with my camera or phone it is 2019 after all). I hope you enjoy the journey and hey, feel free to join in.
