So this post is a two for one because I got a little busy last week and when I finally went to post I was having some technical issues... and now we're in this week. It seems silly to double post so I'll give you both weeks of challenges.
Last week's challenge was to tell a story using a shadow. I don't know if it was hard because I simply got too busy this week to actually look for something to shoot or if it was difficult to be inspired by this challenge. I wouldn't say I'm expressly happy with how this photo tells a story using a shadow, but it's what I was able to produce. Maybe I'll revisit this one down the road.
This weeks challenge was to match a style or composition. Capture an 'accidental renaissance' image. You know just somehow manage to recreate amazing oil paintings in real life. Funny story, I actually had something similar to this as an assignment in one of my photography classes. We had to create a modern Vermeer and I got points taken away because instead of matching the color exactly I inverted the main color palate. This challenge isn't being graded nor is it so picky so I'll leave that baggage in the medieval ages.
When I think about Renaissance paintings I imagine incredibly detailed landscapes and images of angels and other people fawning over a chubby baby Jesus or other scenes from mythology. This one I just happened to accidentally capture while on a photo shoot this past weekend and while I was edited said, 'Man, this could be a Renaissance painting... I think..."
I dunno. I also took a landscape image while I wandered around Longwood Gardens once again, but I'll throw that up on instagram.
